Bobby Santos NASCAR Whelen Modified Series Advance: Stafford Motor Speedway

Bobby Santos looks to make up ground his 10th start at Stafford Motor Speedway this weekend. After a disappointing engine failure in the last NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour (NWMT) event, the 25-year-old continues to defend his 2010 NWMT Championship. Santos, a Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) development driver, will strap into the No. 4 Mystic Missile Dodge at the site of two of his four NWMT wins last season.

STAFFORD MOTOR SPEEDWAY – In his 10 starts at the .5-mile oval, Santos collected 2 wins, both in 2010 with Mystic Missile Racing. He had four DNFs but finished in the top-15 in his six other starts. He collected three top-fives, four top-10s and two poles in his career. In last year's Spring Sizzler, the Franklin, Mass., native set the track qualifying record with a lap of 17.965 seconds (100.195 mph). Santos started on the pole and finished second.

LAST RACE RECAP: THOMPSON INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY – The 2010 NWMT Champion started off the season-opener on top of the charts and broke the Thompson International Speedway track record for the second consecutive year. Starting on the pole, the TBR development driver was ready to wheel the No. 4 Mystic Missile Dodge to a consecutive Icebreaker win. Unfortunately, an engine failure on lap 16 relegated the Mystic Missile team to a 33rd-place finish.

IN THE POINTS – Following the engine failure, Santos and the Mystic Missile team are 32nd in the NWMT point standings, 101 points behind the leader Rowan Pennink.

2010 CHAMPIONSHIP – Santos won the 2010 NWMT Championship in his first full-time season in the series by 27 points over NWMT veteran and seven-time champion Mike Stefanik. In the 14-race season, Santos collected four wins, four poles, nine top-fives and 11 top-10s. He sat atop the point standings for 13 of the 14 races.

RAFFLING FOR CHARITY
– Sunday morning at the Pit Party, Santos and family will be raffling off signed racing items provided by the USAC Benevolent Fund to support Santos' efforts to raising funds for the charity on behalf of Eric Saunders. Santos will compete in the June 28th CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday Champions for Charities event at Stafford Motor Speedway for the USAC Benevolent Fund to support Eric Saunders. Bobby Santos III Quotes:
ON RACING AT STAFFORD MOTOR SPEEDWAY
– "Stafford is actually pretty tough. It seems like the bottom is always the fastest. The whole race comes down to restarts and what line you are in. Toward the end of the race, your line is so important. You could be in 10th, 11th place, and if you are in the right restart line, you can go straight to the front. You can be right of front, and if you are in the wrong restart line, you can go to the back. Getting yourself in the right restart line, which is hard to do, is a huge part of Stafford. It's a fun track to drive. The cars are just so competitive that it is hard to pass there."

ON BEING 32ND IN POINTS – "I'm excited that the next race is Stafford. We have run well at Stafford and won the last time there. We just need to stick to the game plan we've had all year. We need to go out, try to qualify well, lead as many laps as we can and win the race. That's our goal, and the points will happen how they happen."
