Bobby Santos will return to Stafford Motor Speedway looking for back-to-back wins. The 2010 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour (NWMT) Champion took the checkered flag in the Spring Sizzler at Stafford Motor Speedway earlier this month in the No. 4 Mystic Missile Dodge. The 25-year-old also won the TSI Harley-Davidson 125 at Stafford Motor Speedway last year.
STAFFORD MOTOR SPEEDWAY – In his 11 starts at the .5-mile oval, Santos collected three wins, two in 2010 and one in 2011 with Mystic Missile Racing. He had four DNFs but finished in the top-15 in his seven other starts. He collected four top-fives, five top-10s and two poles in his career. In last year's Spring Sizzler, the Franklin, Mass., native set the track qualifying record with a lap of 17.965 seconds (100.195 mph). Santos started on the pole and finished second.
LAST RACE RECAP: STAFFORD MOTOR SPEEDWAY – The Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) development driver started the Spring Sizzler from the third position and shot to the lead by the first lap. Santos led 152 laps of the 200-lap event before taking the checkered flag for his third win in the last four races at the .5-mile track.
IN THE POINTS – The victory at Stafford Motor Speedway shot Santos and team from 31st to eighth in the NWMT point standings. The No. 4 Mystic Missile now sits 81 points behind point leader Rowan Pennink.
MIDGET RACING – Santos will head back to Indianapolis Saturday to compete in the 66th Annual "Night Before the 500" classic at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis, Ind. The USAC Midget race offers a $20,000 bonus for the winner. The 50-lap event is set to begin at 9:20 a.m.
2010 CHAMPIONSHIP – Santos won the 2010 NWMT Championship in his first full-time season in the series by 27 points over NWMT veteran and seven-time champion Mike Stefanik. In the 14-race season, Santos collected four wins, four poles, nine top-fives and 11 top-10s. He sat atop the point standings for 13 of the 14 races.
RACING FOR CHARITY –Santos will race to raise funds for the USAC Benevolent Fund on behalf of Eric Saunders. Santos will compete in the June 28th CARQUEST Extreme Tuesday Champions for Charities event at Stafford Motor Speedway for the USAC Benevolent Fund to support Eric Saunders.
