Santos Collects Two Fourth-place Finishes at The Milwaukee Mile

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (June 21, 2011) – Tommy Baldwin Racing Development Driver Bobby Santos played double duty last weekend at The Milwaukee Mile, driving to a fourth place finish in both the USAC Midget and USAC Silver Crown Series races.

The United States Auto Club (USAC) returned to The Milwaukee Mile after a five-year absence. The last time USAC raced at the mile track, Santos brought home a win in the Midget Series.

In the first race of his doubleheader, Santos looked to defend his Midget victory. After starting 17th in the 25-lap race, the Franklin, Mass., native quickly worked his way through the field. With only a few laps remaining, Santos was able to make his way to third. Just as he began to catch the leaders, a tire went flat, and Santos was able to nurse his No. 98 Santos Motorsports car to a fourth place finish.

"We probably would've won if that tire didn't blow," Santos said. "It was pretty frustrating, but it was an exciting race. We started 17th and only had 25 laps to get to the front, and we still probably could've won it. It was a lot of fun."

Following the Midget race, Santos had only a few minutes to prepare for the Silver Crown race. Starting sixth, Santos struggled to get a good handle on his car, as a brake issue made the car tight. Santos completed his Milwaukee USAC doubleheader with another fourth-place finish.

"The Silver Crown race was pretty uneventful, Santos said. "We had a little brake issue that was messing the car up and making it tight. We were only off a little bit on the handling, but I guess when you're a little off you end up fourth."

Santos will not waste any time getting back behind the wheel. The driver will return to the No. 98 car for another USAC Doubleheader this Friday, June 24th at Iowa Speedway. Santos will again race in the USAC Midget and USAC Silver Crown Series races. At the end of the two Iowa races, Santos will then head to Monadnock Speedway to run 200 laps in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour on Saturday, June 25th.
