Bobby Santos NASCAR Whelen Modified Series Advance: Monadnock Speedway
Race: Monadnock 200
Track: Monadnock Speedway
Date: June 25, 2011
Tommy Baldwin Racing Development Driver Bobby Santos will compete in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour (NWMT) at Monadnock Speedway (N.H.) this weekend. He will pilot the No. 4 Mystic Missile Dodge in the series' fourth race of the 2011 season.
MONADNOCK SPEEDWAY – Santos made his only NWMT start at Monadnock Speedway last season. Santos started second in his track debut. He battled a loose racecar and held on to finish fifth.
QUALIFYING – The first 16 cars will have secured starting positions based on two-lap qualifying. Positions 17-23 will qualify through a 25-lap heat race and the remaining five spots will be awarded through the provisional process.
LAST RACE RECAP: STAFFORD MOTOR SPEEDWAY – The Franklin, Mass., native started second for the 125-lap TSI Harley Davidson 125. Santos ran in the top-five most of the race and finished third.
IN THE POINTS – After three races, Santos sits in sixth place in the NWMT Point Standings. Santos is 14 points behind seventh place and 86 points behind first.
USAC RACING – Santos played double duty last weekend at The Milwaukee Mile racing for his family owned No. 98 Santos Motorsports team. Santos started 17th in the USAC Midget race. He drove up to third place when a late-race flat tire relegated him to a fourth-place finish. The 25-year-old started the USAC Silver Crown Series race from the sixth spot. He battled a brake issue and collected another fourth-place finish.
UP NEXT – Santos will compete in another USAC doubleheader Friday, June 24th at Iowa Speedway with his family-owned team.
Bobby Santos Quotes:
ON RETURN TO MODIFIED – "I'm really excited to get back into the Modified car. I've been racing in a lot of other cars since the last Modified race, and it has been too long since we've raced Modifieds. I can't wait."
ON MONADNOCK – "I think we have a really good chance at Monadnock. We are running two USAC races the night before in Iowa, and I think if everything goes right we have a good chance at three wins this weekend."
